GIS and Remote Sensing for Crop Monitoring Training Course

GIS and Remote Sensing for Crop Monitoring Training Course

Course Overview

This professional training course is designed to equip agronomists, GIS specialists, agricultural researchers, and environmental monitoring professionals with advanced spatial analysis techniques and earth observation methodologies required for modern precision agriculture. In an era marked by climate variability and food security challenges, leveraging geographic information systems (GIS), satellite remote sensing, and vegetation indices is essential for tracking crop health, predicting crop yields, optimizing resource utilization, and managing agricultural risks effectively. Participants will gain deep practical knowledge of satellite imagery processing, spatial modeling, spectral indices, and drone data application to support data-driven agricultural decision-making.

The program explores essential industry topics across ten focused modules, including fundamentals of geographic information systems, optical and radar remote sensing platforms, vegetation indices (NDVI, EVI), crop classification and acreage estimation, drought and soil moisture monitoring, yield forecasting models, and web-GIS dissemination platforms. Through interactive lectures, hands-on software tutorials using QGIS and Google Earth Engine, and real-world agricultural case studies, attendees will master spatial workflows to enhance crop productivity and sustainable farm management.
