Course Overview
The upstream petroleum industry is the bedrock of the global energy sector, characterized by high-stakes engineering challenges, complex geological uncertainties, and multi-billion-dollar investment decisions. This intensive five-day course is designed for oil and gas engineers who seek to master the technical and operational lifecycle of exploration and production (E&P). From the initial geophysical survey to the decommissioning of a mature field, this course provides a sophisticated technical framework for managing assets in both onshore and offshore environments. It bridges the gap between theoretical reservoir engineering and the practical realities of field operations, ensuring that participants can optimize recovery while maintaining stringent safety and environmental standards.
The curriculum provides an in-depth exploration of modern upstream operations, focusing on cutting-edge drilling technologies, reservoir characterization, and production optimization. Participants will examine the mechanics of well completion, the application of Artificial Lift Systems (ALS), and the intricacies of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques. Furthermore, the course addresses the "Digital Oilfield" revolution, integrating data analytics and automation into traditional petroleum engineering workflows. By the end of this program, engineers will be equipped to lead multi-disciplinary teams through the complexities of reservoir management, offshore logistics, and regulatory compliance.
Upon the successful completion of this Advanced Upstream Petroleum Operations Training: Strategic Engineering and Field Management Masterclass participants will be able to:
ü Evaluate geological and geophysical data to assess reservoir potential.
ü Design and optimize drilling programs using modern well-construction techniques.
ü Analyze reservoir performance and implement effective secondary and tertiary recovery strategies.
ü Supervise well intervention and workover operations to enhance production.
ü Implement rigorous Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols in upstream environments.
ü Navigate the economic and regulatory frameworks governing global petroleum assets.
Training Methodology
The course is designed to be highly interactive, challenging and stimulating. It will be an instructor led training and will be delivered using a blended learning approach comprising of:
ü Interactive technical lectures and multimedia presentations
ü Case study analysis of major global oil and gas fields
ü Collaborative design workshops for well and reservoir planning
