Course Description
This intensive five-day training course provides a comprehensive guide to developing and implementing a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) strategy. In today's development and humanitarian sectors, a well-defined MEAL strategy is no longer a luxury but a fundamental requirement for ensuring project effectiveness, demonstrating impact, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This course is designed to equip participants with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to move beyond routine monitoring and evaluation activities to a strategic approach that integrates accountability and learning at every stage of the project cycle. Participants will learn how to design MEAL systems that are not only compliant with donor requirements but also genuinely useful for adaptive management and strategic decision-making.
The course journey begins with the foundational principles of MEAL, establishing a clear understanding of how Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning are interconnected. Participants will delve into the critical steps of designing a MEAL strategy, including developing theories of change and logical frameworks, selecting meaningful indicators, and planning for data collection. The training covers a range of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, data quality assurance, and analysis techniques. Special emphasis is placed on integrating accountability to affected populations (AAP) and establishing effective feedback mechanisms. Finally, the course culminates in strategies for fostering an organizational learning culture, ensuring that MEAL findings are used to inform future programming and drive organizational growth and impact.
