Training Course on Biodiversity Impact Assessment for Ecologists

Training Course on Biodiversity Impact Assessment for Ecologists

Course Description

This intensive five-day training program is specifically designed for ecologists and environmental professionals seeking to master the principles and practices of Biodiversity Impact Assessment (BIA). Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to identify, assess, predict, and mitigate potential impacts of development projects on biodiversity. The course emphasizes both the scientific rigor and practical application of BIA methodologies, equipping participants with the skills to conduct robust assessments that meet international standards and inform sustainable development decisions.

This program will cover essential topics such as the foundational concepts of biodiversity, relevant international and national regulatory frameworks, the entire BIA process from scoping to monitoring, methodologies for baseline data collection and impact prediction, and developing effective mitigation hierarchies. We'll also delve into biodiversity offsetting, the application of GIS and remote sensing in BIA, stakeholder engagement, and the integration of BIA into broader environmental impact assessments (EIAs).
