Training Course on Advanced Spatial Econometrics for Urban and Regional Economists

Training Course on Advanced Spatial Econometrics for Urban and Regional Economists

Course Description

This specialized training course is designed to equip urban and regional economists with the advanced quantitative tools necessary to analyze spatial dependencies and heterogeneities in economic data. It delves into the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of spatial econometric models, enabling participants to move beyond traditional regression techniques and account for the inherent spatial nature of economic phenomena. The program will provide a rigorous understanding of how location and proximity influence economic outcomes, crucial for accurate policy formulation and research in urban and regional contexts.

The course covers a comprehensive range of topics, including the detection and modeling of spatial autocorrelation, various spatial regression models (e.g., spatial lag, spatial error, Durbin models), advanced estimation techniques, spatial panel data models, and the interpretation of spatial spillovers. A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on application using statistical software, ensuring participants can immediately apply learned concepts to their research and analytical work in areas such as urban housing markets, regional economic growth, and infrastructure development.
